Victoria Norbury
Sport & Exercise Physician

Dr Victoria Norbury is a Sport and Exercise Physician with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ACSEP). Originally from Sydney, Dr Norbury undertook an undergraduate physiotherapy (honours) degree before graduating from medicine in 2014 with honours. After completing her internship and residency in Sydney at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, she moved down to Melbourne to work at the Royal Children’s Hospital in the Paediatric Surgery Department. After a few years working in Paediatric Surgery, she could not ignore her love for sport and exercise medicine any longer.

Dr Norbury began her specialist training in 2021 at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, working with a range of sports and programs including men’s basketball, artistic swimming, gymnastics and para-swimmers. The AIS was also where she started her research in high-performance female athletes returning to sport post-pregnancy.

Victoria returned to Melbourne in 2022 and is currently the head doctor at North Melbourne AFLW. She has previously served as the head AFLW doctor and assistant AFL doctor at the Western Bulldogs Football Club and head doctor at Footscray VFL men’s. She was a member of the Commonwealth Games team in 2022, and the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the Youth Commonwealth Games held in Trinidad and Tobago in 2023. Some of Victoria’s other elite sporting experience includes work with Tennis Australia, FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), Netball Australia, A-League match day coverage, Super Rugby match day coverage, Rugby Championship (Bledisloe Cup) and Australian Gymnastics National Championships.

Victoria is dedicated to helping all patients achieve their goals through management of acute and chronic injuries. She has a keen interest and passion for paediatric patients, female athletes, concussion and bone stress injuries.
